Real-time voice translation and AI dubbing for any page

DubTab is a browser extension that provides real-time voice translation and AI-powered audio dubbing directly within any Chrome or Edge browser tab. It enables users to consume audio- and video-based content—such as online courses, live streams, video calls, and on-demand media—in languages other than the original, using synchronized dubbed audio and optional bilingual captions. Designed for global learners, remote professionals, and multilingual audiences, DubTab operates entirely in-browser without requiring file uploads or external processing.
The tool addresses common limitations of traditional subtitle-only approaches by delivering low-latency spoken translation that preserves timing and context. It supports a wide range of platforms—including YouTube, Netflix, Twitch, Zoom, Google Meet, Coursera, Udemy, and Bilibili—making it applicable across education, entertainment, and professional communication contexts.
DubTab functions by capturing audio directly from the active browser tab using Web Audio APIs. Once enabled, it processes the audio stream in real time: speech is transcribed, translated into the selected target language, and converted to speech using AI-generated voices. Subtitles—either monolingual or bilingual—are rendered on-screen with minimal delay. Users select source and target languages, choose an AI voice, and adjust ducking settings before initiating dubbing.
The workflow consists of three steps: (1) installing and pinning the extension in the browser toolbar, (2) navigating to any webpage with playable audio (e.g., a YouTube video or Zoom meeting), and (3) clicking the DubTab icon to start translation and dubbing. All processing is handled client-side where possible, with only short text segments transmitted to secure cloud services for translation and TTS synthesis.
DubTab supports practical applications across multiple domains. For education, it allows learners to access online courses on platforms like Coursera or Udemy without language barriers, improving comprehension and retention. In live-streaming contexts—including YouTube Live and Twitch—it delivers immediate translation of commentary, reactions, and jokes, enabling real-time participation. For distributed teams, it facilitates cross-language meetings on Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams by providing live spoken translation and readable captions, reducing miscommunication and repetition.
Additionally, fans of international media—such as K-pop livestreams, variety shows, or regional news—can follow content natively without waiting for community-submitted translations. The extension also benefits language learners by offering side-by-side exposure to original and translated speech, reinforcing listening and comprehension skills.
