This Privacy Policy explains how FastScribe collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, transcription services, and official browser extension.

Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

• Personal Information: Name, email address, and contact details you provide when registering or contacting us.
• Usage Data: Information about how you interact with our website, including pages visited and time spent.
• Device Information: Details about the device you use to access our services, such as IP address, browser type, and operating system.

FastScribe Browser Extension

The FastScribe browser extension processes the following information:

• Current tab URL and page title: After you accept the extension's first-use notice, the extension reads this information when you open the popup or request a transcript. It does not read page content, cookies, comments, forms, or browsing history.
• Account and authorization information: The extension stores a limited FastScribe access token locally in Chrome so it can create transcription tasks and show your account name and available credits. It never stores your password or FastScribe website cookies.
• Transcription information: We process the selected language, video platform, extension version, task ID, task status, and errors needed to create and manage the transcript.
• Extension analytics: We record popup opens, transcription requests, completed sign-ins, successful transcriptions, and failed transcriptions. These events may include the platform, extension version, authorization status, error code, and task ID. Analytics events do not include the complete video URL.

The extension only sends the current tab URL to FastScribe after a user action. FastScribe uses the URL to validate the supported video page, retrieve the available media transcript, enforce account limits, create the transcription task, and return the transcript page. The extension does not monitor tabs in the background and does not request access to all websites.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

• To provide and maintain our services
• To notify you about changes to our services
• To provide customer support
• To gather analysis or valuable information to improve our services
• To monitor the usage of our services
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues

We do not sell personal data, use extension data for personalized advertising, or use browsing activity unrelated to the FastScribe feature the user requested.

Service Providers and Data Sharing

We share information only as needed to operate FastScribe, comply with law, protect users and the service, or respond to a support request you initiate. For social-video transcription, the submitted video URL may be sent to Supadata, our transcription data provider, so it can retrieve the media transcript. Infrastructure, hosting, authentication, payment, and analytics providers may process the minimum information needed to perform their services under contractual and security obligations.

FastScribe personnel do not manually review your submitted URLs or transcript content except when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or when you explicitly ask us to investigate a support issue.

Storage, Retention, and Deletion

The extension stores its limited access token, consent choice, recent task state, and settings in Chrome's local extension storage. Removing the extension clears that local extension storage. Signing out of the extension clears its access token without signing you out of the FastScribe website.

FastScribe stores the submitted URL and generated transcript as part of your transcription task so you can access the result. Source media and related service data are retained according to the retention controls available for your FastScribe plan and our operational, security, and legal requirements. You can delete transcription tasks from FastScribe or contact us to request deletion of your account data, subject to records we must retain by law.
