Real-time captioning software for live events

stagecaptions.io is a browser-based real-time captioning platform designed for live events, hybrid conferences, broadcasts, and presentations. It enables users to generate accurate speech-to-text captions directly from a web browser without requiring software installation or dedicated hardware. The platform serves event producers, presenters, accessibility coordinators, broadcasters, and educators who need immediate, reliable captioning for diverse audiences across physical venues, livestreams, and personal devices.
The system is built for production environments where timing, terminology accuracy, and accessibility compliance are essential. It supports multilingual captioning and integrates with common streaming and display tools such as OBS Studio and Resolume Arena through standard browser output URLs.
Using stagecaptions.io involves three sequential steps. First, the presenter creates a caption room in their browser by selecting an audio input source (e.g., microphone or system audio), specifying the language, and choosing a caption design preset. Second, the presenter shares a unique URL or QR code with attendees, enabling instant access to the live caption feed. Third, captions are displayed simultaneously across multiple endpoints: venue screens, livestream overlays (via browser source integration), and individual attendee devices.
The underlying speech-to-text processing occurs in real time using automated speech recognition (ASR) technology. Audio is processed client-side or via secure cloud inference, and captions are rendered with configurable styling—including font size, color, background, and positioning—to meet accessibility standards and visual branding requirements.
stagecaptions.io supports a range of use cases where real-time accessibility and clarity are critical. In conferences, it ensures inclusivity for Deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees while improving comprehension for non-native speakers. For sports commentary and live events, it delivers synchronized captions on stadium scoreboards and broadcast overlays. In education and corporate training, it enhances engagement and retention during virtual or hybrid sessions. Broadcasters and streamers integrate it seamlessly into existing workflows without modifying encoding setups. Additionally, institutions use it to meet legal accessibility requirements such as WCAG 2.1 AA and ADA Title III compliance for public-facing live content.
