AI anywhere you type. 10x your productivity

Wordwand is a macOS application that integrates AI functionality directly into any text-input environment, enabling users to interact with artificial intelligence without switching applications or copying and pasting. It operates as an overlay assistant accessible via a system-wide keyboard shortcut, supporting use across native and web-based apps including Gmail, Slack, Notion, LinkedIn, and code editors. Designed for professionals, writers, students, developers, and creators, Wordwand streamlines writing, communication, and content processing by embedding AI assistance at the point of input.
The tool addresses common productivity bottlenecks—such as drafting emails, correcting grammar, translating text, transcribing speech, converting text to audio, extracting action items, and adapting tone across contexts. It requires macOS 13.0 or later and does not require a credit card for initial access.
Wordwand runs as a background macOS application that monitors text input fields. When the user presses the designated global shortcut (e.g., Command+Shift+Space), a lightweight AI interface appears adjacent to the cursor. The user can type a natural-language request (e.g., "write a polite decline email") and receive generated text that can be inserted directly into the current document or message. Alternatively, users may activate voice dictation to speak their input, then refine the transcription using built-in editing tools.
For audio output, users select existing text and choose from playback modes: verbatim reading, condensed summary, or conversational podcast-style narration with two synthetic voices. Tone adaptation is configured per application through the settings panel, allowing users to define preferred formality levels for different platforms. Task extraction works by selecting text containing verbs or imperative phrases (e.g., "review the PR", "send follow-up"), after which Wordwand parses and formats them as discrete checklist items.
Wordwand supports diverse workflows across professional domains. Writers use it for overcoming writer’s block, refining prose, and meeting deadlines without compromising quality. Professionals benefit from rapid email drafting, multilingual communication, and error-free correspondence. Developers leverage it for generating commit messages, documentation snippets, or technical explanations within IDEs. Students apply it for summarizing lecture notes, translating academic sources, or converting study materials into audio for passive review. Creators utilize podcast mode to preview script flow or generate interview-style dialogues for content planning.
