How to Transcribe a Zoom Recording
Prepare the recording, review the result, and export the format you need.
Step 1
Get the recording file
After Zoom finishes processing, locate the local MP4/M4A or download the cloud recording using your account’s recording controls. Ask the host if you lack download permission.
Step 2
Upload and select the language
Choose the downloaded file in FastScribe. A Zoom meeting invitation or password-protected playback link does not replace the file.
Step 3
Review and export meeting text
Listen at speaker changes, correct names, and check decisions. Download DOCX or TXT; verify any AI summary against the transcript.

Does FastScribe join a live Zoom meeting?
No. This page works with saved recording files. It does not join meetings, capture live audio, or automatically sync your Zoom account.
Can I submit a Zoom cloud playback link?
Download a permitted recording first and upload the MP4 or M4A. Private playback links and meeting invitations are not supported inputs for this workflow.
Which file should I choose?
M4A is useful when you only need the audio transcript. MP4 keeps the video source available for reviewing context or producing subtitles.
Are participant names recognized automatically?
Do not assume speaker labels are verified names. Compare them with the recording and correct attribution before distributing notes.
